why not both. I think having something written (by you from the heart) and a gift could really be a great gift for Valentine's Day. It's nice to sit some time aside and explain what you feel for that special someone. just my two cents.
Both!Whynot?I would give a gift and a card on Valentine's Day!Either one is fine!

You can purchase Valentines Day gifts anywhere. Flower shops, card stores, even try places that sell crafts. You just need to know your partner and determine what is the best gift for that "loving feeling" for your significant other.

Hallmark cards are greeting cards for birthdays, Valentines Day, Mothers Day, etc.

Its either Valentines day or Christmas, but I would say that Valentines day probably beats any other holiday in card sales.
Valentines day cards flowers and saying their the best family you could have like i have.
Valentines day is a day for celebrating love for one another, so I would recommend a personal and fairly standard price gift that says "I really value who you are, and our friendship". If you can't think of anything you could always just stick with the 'send them a nice card' option that I'm sure they'll be more than happy with, especially when you take into account the act of buying friends gifts for valentines day isn't that commonly found, (where I live anyway). Hope I've helped you out, and please keep in mind that the real gift on valentines day or any other day is the friendship you two share.
