Catholic churches help a lot of poor and the under priviledge families. There are many organizations within the church which undertake activities of distributing food, clothing, books and sometimes even shelter in the home for the poor. The church is always actively involved in teaching the poor and providing them with free education. Teaching them how to live and how to make themselves competitive in this world. There are sometimes special monetory collections held in the church for the poor.

How do churches show love and what do they do?

By churches I'm guessing you mean catholic parishes. I can only speak and answer for my own parish. Love is Christian Action. Our parish collects money and food to be given to those less fortunate. There are many groups active within the church and the wider community that visit and help those in need - both our own parishoners and those who are not necessary catholic but could do with a helping hand.
