If steering wheeel was turned to far, you may have snapped clockspring AIRBAG wire that runs through the steering wheel. Think of it as the same way a tape measure recoils after letting loose. If wheel was turned more than 2 complete revolutions from center, than it is more than likely a snapped wire.
