If the check engine light is on in a 1997 Cavalier, there can be many different things wrong besides the EGR Valve. There could be bad oxygen sensors, low oil pressure, or even low spark.
It can.
First, the oil change has nothing to do with the check engine light. The EGR may have not been the problem. You need to have the codes read and diagnose from there.
Check engine light on
check engine light reset on a 1999 Acura CL 3.0.. Just replaced the egr valve. Thx
The usual issue with a 2005 Saturn Vue engine light is a problem with the EGR valve. It is best to have a mechanic check out the problem.
In the owners manual it says the check engine light is related to the emissions system. When my check engine light went on it was because my EGR Valve was clogged and simply needed to be cleaned. There are a lot of threads here and other places explaining how to replace and or clean an EGR Valve. It is a very simple replacement to perform.
Depending on the vehicle the check engine light would illuminate.
I'd first check repalce the EGR Pressure Feedback sensor (back of engine underneath with two hose outlets), then the EGR vacuum solenoid (left side of EGR valve).
Yes it can if it is bad you will see the cel
After replacing the EGR valve, use the diagnostic tool and erase codes then read the codes again. I had the same problem on my 97 geo metro. After replacing the egr valve, the check engine light stayed on. After a while it was suppose to clear itself but it didn't. So I went to autozone borrowed their diagnostic tool, erased the codes and then my car passed and the check engine light went off.
you need to replace the egr valve it is located on top of the motor on the left side you need to replace the egr valve it is located on top of the motor on the left side. Most of the time it is the vacuum lines that come off the EGR valve that makes the check engine light come on. I changed my EGR valve and the engine light is still on with a code that said low vacuum check out full size bronco.com they can answer any question you have
Try removing negative battery cable for 10 minutes. If that does not work you will need an OBD2 scan tool to reset the light. I just cleaned my egr valve and the check engine light went off and I drove it a little and it came back on how long do I have to drive my car after work with the egr valve how many miles
