Chevy Caprice power antenna replace?
In my 89 you need to remove the wheel and the inside wheel housing, to get full access to the antenna.
There is a wire which connects the power to the antenna. The wire is located under the hood right near the back of the fender hump on the passengers side. If you look you will see where it goes down insdie the fender to the antenna power unit. Just unplag the connector and you are good to go. vbdenny
I changed a power antenna on a 1993 Caprice Wagon. I took half of the bolts out whthat attach the inner fender on the right front wheel starting at the bottom left corner and working clockwise. I then loosened several others from the 12 oclock position. I was the able to pull the inner fender out enough to reach through the opening and remove the antenna cable & nut holding the antenna to the body.
How do you remove the power antenna motor and antenna from a 1998 4Runner Once this is done is it possible to install a euro style antenna?
I can confirm that the 1993 Caprice Classic also uses Fuse 1 for this, which is painful because now that the power antennas are failing in the - let me keep trying to lower the antenna for the next week while I'm parked in the garage - mode, and you can't get through the wheelwell to get at the motor or under the dash to locate a wire, you need to disable the interior lighting…
the power antenna is located on right front. I jacked my car, and removed the right front wheel. Then there are some small screws which are keep the inner fender plastic. unscrew them. You can reach with your hand the power antenna. Unplug the power wire, and the antenna wire, and unscrew those small (8mm) screws which are holding the antenna in its bracket.

After you remove that, the antenna itself is held by a 10mm bolt. to get to it you'll need to open up the trunk lining near the antenna location and remove that bolt. Then, pull the antenna far enough to disconnect the antenna wire and power. Assuming the antenna…
There are a lot of aftermarket antenna masts that you can get to fit your 4 runner and if you do decide to go with a fixed mast just make sure that you make sure that the wiring harness at the mast doesn't ground out on any metal. Other than that there is no problem with replacing it with a fixed mast antenna.
To access the power antenna you have to remove the storage container next the spare tire. then remove the screws holding the plastic piece in place. Pry back the plastic trim and you will see the antenna behind it. On the outside there is a cross shaped piece holding the antenna in place. find something such as pliers to unscrew it (counter-clockwise). the antenna will fall out as a complete unit.
I am also trying to change my antenna on a Montero Limited 02 and found a antenna on EBAY but you have to replace everything. BUT a Better Idea is the one I found on WWW.CARSTEREOHELP.COM On this site, they say it is possible to change out the antenna whip only. This is the weekend, but I plan to pursue this option on Monday. I'll use my $30.00 antenna on some other car! Geo Here…
