First thing make sure your model has them in the rear.If so you will need to pull the transmission too get to the freeze plugs. AKA "casting plugs" I'm about to do the same thing myself, good luck to you..

On the side of the engine block. they are not really freeze plugs. That is a myth. They are casting plugs used to remove the sand during casting.
Depending on your ride, the greezing plug could be located on the side, back or underneath the engine block.
There are several freeze plugs on most engines, some are easy to get to and others are not so easy. Give us more info.
