In Mexico the Cinco de Mayo celebrates the winning of a battle of Puebla in 1862. In the US Cinco de Mayo celebrates the heritage of the Mexican people. We celebrate the unique heritage of yet another ethnic group who has joined the Irish, the Italian, the Germans, the Polish, the Cuban, the Puerto Rican, the Chinese, the African, in our melting pot. We dance and sing and join in parades to celebrate this festive heritage celebration. The pinata game is also another way we celebrate.
