∙ 12y agoLas Vegas, Nevada is 276 miles away and with a population of 583,756 and a Metropolitan size of almost 2 million can be considered a large city. However, Phoenix has a Metropolitan area of over 4 million and a city population of 1,445,632 and is only 223 miles from the South Rim. (Phoenix wins that contest.) Because the competition rules were not clearly stated, however, the prize must be awarded to Flagstaff which isn't large by modern standards. For a really big City within a day's drive consider Los Angeles, California.
