Toyota and Subaru clocks have a manufacturing defect causing them to not light up.
Simply remove and open the clock. Re-solder the surface mount resistors (black chips with 3 digit numbers and Rxx printed on the circuit board). Especially re-solder R510.
Even if the solder looks ok, the solder used will fail to make a proper electrical connection.
With Corolla stopped(this is for safety) this is how you set the clock on the 2009 Toyoya Corolla All Models. (page 148 in 2009 Corolla Manua)l Step 1 - Display the clock when the vehicle is stopped. After adjusting the minutes, wait 5 seconds to allow the minutes to be automatically input. Step 4 - Press the display button to adjust the hours. Check the fuses. If they are good, the electroluminescent display has failed. The flourecence may have been affected by temperature change or age.
It is to the left of the odometer, in the same small display that also shows the temperature, average miles per gallon, range, etc. You have to push the button to cycle through all the data displayed until you come to the clock. ************ I don't know what car has the clock where you have to cycle through anything. The time of day clock is displayed under the radio in a 2009 Corolla

In my 1997 CR-V, there is no clock fuse listed on the fuse box. By the way, when my clock lamp (LED?) stopped working intermittently, my UK dealer explained that the clock was a sealed unit and was very expensive to replace. My clock lamp finally failed completely (the clock may be okay ... I cannot tell). I fitted a new cheap clock to the dashboard, using the gap around the factory clock to host the screws. I also eventually bought a new audio unit with a clock display.
your button for speakers on off in the back seat is sticking keep pushing the button until it comes loose. had the same problem.
This is a problem with the soldering in some chips in the back of clock. There is a video in YouTube adreesing this problem. Search for the words clock + corolla. The first link should be it. Don't want to post link here, they might delete post.
