This may be cause by a leaky seal on the valve cover. Oil leaks into the spark plug journal and shorts the coil. If the boot is wet, this is your issue. You will get a P300 code for a misfire, 302 for cylinder 1, P302 for 2, etc.
Pull old ones off coil and stick new ones on.

A 2005 has 3 coil boots on the front head, and 3 wires w/boots for the rear plugs.
To much resistance in the spark plug wires, replace the spark plug wires.
No , your 4.6 liter V8 engine has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system
where is the 5 coil located on a 2002 Lincoln ls
If it is a 3.9 v8 then they are under each coil pack. That is under the top cover of your valve covers
these engines have a coil on plug. first i would change the spark plug boots because they are known to cause this issue by grounding spark from the coil to the block. its best if you can check misfire condition with a scan tool to determine this. if the plug boots dont fix the problem then try the coil pack. if that doesnt work check for a manifold leak (coolant or vacume). good luck

A 2001 Lincoln does indeed have individual coil packs for each cylinder. They're a cylindrical module that sits on top of each spark plug. You generally need to replace the entire coil but you can also just replace the lower "boot" as it sometimes deteriorates and causes the cylinder to misfire even if the coil is still "good".AnswerIt is a good possibility that this vehicle uses a coil pack. Look for a rectangular box with thick wires coming out of individual plugs on top of it. The wires should each go to a sparkplug. this is the coilpack. You have to replace the entire component. There is no regular coil like on older vehicles.

A 2001 Chrysler Town and Country has one coil pack.
