The 7975 seems to be an already outdated model. It has minimum Ram, slow CPU, bad graphics, not even a DVD drive.
The "HP Pavilion a6042n" seems to be better. As a work computer. For Office working. Not for designing. The CPU has not the best clocking, but its dualcore, so its not that bad. It comes with 1 Gig of Ram. This is not bad, if you run XP, but for Vista and Win7 this is just the minimum requirement. But you should be more than fine, if you do not play games. The games won't run anyways, because of the Cpu (newer ones). If you want to do designing (or Photoshopping), you probably might to get a simple graphics card. Nothing too big. Just like a nVidia 9400, to take the onboard graphic (using the Ram) off the Ram. This is going to make your PC faster, too. For working, the hard drive should be big enough - btw, the other one is just 80 Gig. That's pretty bad today.
It doesn't have many PCI slots (the ones you put a graphics card into), so you are limited on upgrading.
HP also tells about lots of fancy programs, the PC comes with. That is mostly freeware, or trials. And a good part of it is junk. Well that's HP as we know it. ^^
