Coolidge, who had been an effective state governor, was a much better administrator than Harding was. Coolidge was also a lawyer and generally sharper. Harding was better looking and more friendly.

They were running mates and had the same general political philosophy. Harding was lax in his administrative duties, spent too much time on the Golf course and was pretty much over his head when it came to being president. Coolidge was a far more capable administrator having been a successful state governor and was wiser in his cabinet selections.

Harding and Coolidge was running mates and shared similar philosophies of government. Coolidge was a much more effective and intelligent administrator.

He lacked some of Harding's personal charm but was well-liked by most people.
