There are some "odd" compounds called silicides binary compounds of metals with silicon but generally these are not ionic, only those with the more reactive metals have ionic nature, silicon forming cluster anions (Zintl compounds) such as Si44- (isoelectronic with P4 molecule)

Although theoritically any compound containing carbon should be considered organic, this is often not the case. Compounds with metals can also be split further, to include: Carbonates and bicarbonates; Carbonyls; Compounds containing the CN group; Carbides; and other miscilaneous compounds such as Bucky Balls!
