What did Christopher Columbus contribute to America?

Columbus was the first of European invaders to North America. He contributed disease and death the Native Americans that he found and that other European explorers found. Discrimination and the loss of ancestral lands is what he brought with him. He was not a hero and actually was a mean greedy man. He cut the hand off of a Native American because the man only brought him a nugget of gold.

Not really. He found Hispaniola and the natives there. He never knew he didn't reach India and spent the rest of his life fighting the Spanish crown for the things in his contract with them. He was a greedy, mean and unhappy man.
