If the engine coolant is rusty color you would need to have the engine cooling system flushed and then a new 50 / 50 mixture of preferably distilled water and antifreeze used to refill the system

Why is there rust in the coolant container in my 2000 Lincoln town car?

It is not rust, but broken down extended life coolant. When Extended life coolant goes beyond the replacement time, every five years, it can break down and turn into a rusty sludge like substance. I would bet if you haven't changed the coolant in the car, it has never been changed.

When do you need to change coolant on a 1999 Toyota Camry?

You need to change only when it changes ro rusty color or effectiveness is diminished. This can be tested by a small device they sell in Auto parts stores, that measures its specific gravity.

Why does our 1996 grand marquis heater does not get warm?

coolant system consists of three main parts, water pump, radiator, and heater core, than comes the coolant itself, and the lines(hoses) check your fluid first, maker sure that your coolant is topped off at the radiator itself, not the resovoir. from there i would inspect the water pump, if your water(coolant) is really rusty brown, that is a sign that corrosion has occurred, any more questions email me at eliteprofessionals@live.com

What does it mean when a 97 Ford Taurus overheats coolant leaks and steams from the overflow tank and the coolant in the tank is the color of rusty water?

i had that problem....thermostat was stuck closed.jusr replace thermostat, like $5 It could be a thermostat, or a water pump, or any other component in the system. The key here though, is probably the color of the coolant. Rusty brown coolant indicates dirt or rust in the system, or that someone added a sealer to the system. Either way it's a bad thing. Contaminated coolant loses its ability to transfer heat properly. In addition, the rust scaling or a "bar's leak" type product can plug up the thermostat or any other small passage ways and cause the overheating concern. I would verify the cooling fan comes on when the engine is hot then flush the system thoroughly and replace the thermostat. This may not fix the issue but it's an easy and inexpensive place to start and it will rule out the basics tomake it easier to diagnose any other problems.

What will cause the car temperature run hot if you have replaced the radiator and the thermostat?

the hoses leading to and from your radiator might be clogged. If you had a rusty radiator, the rust may have clogged the hoses that carry the coolant. you should check all your hoses and even flush them out.

Your car is leaking yellow rusty water Does a radiator leak normally give out that type of water?

Yes, this sounds like coolant from a cooling system that has been neglected and not flushed and changed regularly. Have the leak fixed, a new thermostat installed, a fresh mix of 50/50 coolant installed, and bleed the system.
