We always used to cross-tie them between 2 posts or trees. Answer: This depends on how much your horse likes to be bathed. If the horse stands well for being groomed and doesn't mind water, soap, etc. leave the halter on and use a lead rope to tie the horse off to a solid object ( sturdy Fencing, tree etc.)or have someone else hold the lead rope while you bathe, this also gives you the ability to move the horse if the ground gets too wet or muddy ( hint: if you wash on the grass you probably won't need to move that much or if grass isn't available put down some hay.) If the horse does NOT like water or a bath use the same method but cross tie ( one lead rope from each of the cheek rings at a 90 degree angle to the horse and keep very little slack in the lead ropes)it will also help to have another person with you to work with the horse, distraction, treats and reassurance all can help to make this a more pleasant experience for the horse and you both. Also, if the horse does not like the hose, try keeping the stream of water right up against the skin, use warm water if possible and wash the head with a small towel, if that still isn't enough try blinders. Keeping the session short and starting from the rear of the horse may also give you better results...it may take a week top give the horse a bath but it will pay off in the long run.

Make sure the post or tie rack is secure with extra strong hardware that won't break if the horse pulls back. Horses are unbelievably strong with quick reflexes. Remove anything that the horse could get tangled in or bump into. A tie post should be about chest high. Too high and the horse may not be able to put is head down to a comfortable level. Too low and he won't be able to raise his head to look around. Always use a quick-release knot in case the horse panicks and pulls back you can release the knot and free the horse before he hurts himself. Every horse likes a different lenghth of rope. Some like a shorter rope and some like a little more rope so they can look around. Figure out what works best for your horse. Always use a nylon halter and lead rope. Leather is expensive but will break with very little pressure. Until you know how your horse will respond to being tied don't leave him unattended.

A tiedown (western) or standing martingale (english) is attached to the noseband/cavison on the bottom next to the horse's jowl. The other end goes between the front legs and attaches to the girth. Make sure it's not too short or the horse won't be able to carry his head in a comfortable position.

The safest way to tie up your horse is called the quick release knot. so say, if you have a fence line in front of you, a post persay. underneath the first pannel, wrap the lead once from right to left. take the lead line part not tied around the post on the left in your left hand and twist it by simple flipping your hand over to the left. with your right hand, make a bun (double up a part of the rope) and stick it through the bottom of the circle you made with your left handand pull it tight by pushing the circle tight. practice this a few times and you've got the hang of it!

A safety/quick release knot is usually the best type to use but several other ones can be used that are just as good.

When you tie your horse to a post you should....?

Tie a loose knot that will give if he spooks or runs You should not tie a loose knot. Actually when tieing your horse you should use a knot..but it is called a safety knot. The way the safety knot works is your horse can't untie himself but the handler can simply free the horse if the situation arised. You should tie a loose knot that will give if he spooks or run or else you could choke the horse.

What is grammatically correct - 'Travel safe' or 'travel safely'?

The grammatically correct way to say this phrase is "travel safely." This is because "safely" is an adverb modifying the verb "travel," whereas the adjective "safe" should only be modifying a noun. In this case, the word "travel" is used as a verb rather than a noun.

Is it safe to muck-out with a horse in your stables?

Yes if the horse is well behaved and is not aggressive. If you are not sure of the horse then put a head collar on and tie it up in the stable. I have two horses one is a angel in the box and stays out of the way and lets you muck out , the other I have to tie up as she threatens to bite if you have anything that she sees as a threat in your hand. It all comes down to common sense , if the horse doesn't like people in the stable then muck out when it is turned out or tie up somewhere safe.

What is the correct way to tie baseball cleats with flap?

well, the way I've always done it was to lace them like regular shoes, then I wrap it around my foot and tie it in a double knot on top of my cleats. I don't know if there is necessarily a CORRECT way to lace cleats, but this is how I've done it for about 5 years, and it's worked for me!

When leading a horse you should walk in front of it to show where you are going?

The correct and safest way to walk with a horse is on the "fore side" his left side slightly in front of his shoulder. The way a horse's eyes work he won't need you to show him where he is going. Always remember, when leading a horse never to loop the leadrope or reins around your hand. This is a very good way to loose a finger if the horse panicks or spooks.
