it is low coolant temperature, could be the thermostat could be the sensor for coolant temperature.
If a complete tune-up (with new ignition wires, plugs, air filter, cap, rotor) does not improve gas mileage, replace the coolant temperature sensor. The sensor is located under the intake manifold. Cost is about $39.00. Check the shape of the wiring socket to make sure you get the right sensor.
It is located under the plastic radiator fill tank They only cost about $7 to $9 for the sensor as I bout one today for a 96 Cavalier 2.2
How much will it cost to replace a cank sensor on a Mazada 626?
It is located on the coolant reservoir. This part cost $70.00
It's buried underneath the dash, and, the question you ask is too involved for a proper answer. You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library.
The Coolant Temp. Sensor is located on the driver side of the engine and is behind the lower part of the Altenator. You will need to remove the Altenator to replace it. Unless you have a lift, then you may be able to reach it. It may require emptying the coolant and replace it afterwards. The replacement sensor was about $38.00 from the GM dealer. I have a friend that works in the parts dept. so your cost may be a little higher. Hope this helps. Advance auto parts store has a repair manuel for this model that details the steps involved.
I assume you has an s series Saturn If so you are in luck because that code is caused by the coolant sensor cracking 90% of the time Replace the sensor and the harness (if corroded) and you'll be good to go
