Not normally for environmental-impact reasons, the Concorde could and did operate at Mach speeds overwater- as this was its principle design function-transatlantic passenger speed service, as far as known from sixty-grand, the shock wave was not audible on the surface of the water! One US Carrier , Braniff had a Concorde but was not permitted to (let her out all the way) and may have had the afterburners, etc disconnected, something of a Eunuch as some flight engineer said. there you habve it, a Fatal accident in 2000 sounded alarms and the Concordes were all out of sevrice completely by 2003 oddly the centenary of powered flight.

How fast can a Concorde jet get to Washington DC from Los Angeles?

It can't. The last Concorde flew on 30 August 2003.The Aérospatiale-BAC Concorde aircraft is a turbojet-powered supersonic passenger airliner, a supersonic transport (SST), which flew from 1969 to 2003.The Concorde's regular routes were:London Heathrow (British Airways) and Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (Air France) to New York JFK and Washington Dulles. The Concorde never from for Los Angeles to DC primarily because it could never achieve supersonic speeds. The Sonic Boom the plane created when flying was considered too dangerous and too much of a nuisance to allow this over land.

Are there any supersonic flights available commercially to the public?

Since 2000 with the crash of the Concorde (the event, not the comedians) none. The Tuoelev in Russia was a failed design, and Boeing customers opted for the 787 Dreamliner over the Sonic Cruiser, so in the future?...

When did supersonic flight become illegal over the continental US?

According to the FAA in 1973, supersonic flight over land by civil aircraft has been prohibitedby regulation in the United StatesFederal Aviation Administration14 CFR Parts 36 and 91http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/AEP/supersonic_noise/media/noise_policy_on_supersonics.pdf

How many feet per second does a bullet have to travel to be supersonic?

The dry air speed of sound is about 1125 FPS, so anything over that is considered supersonic.

Why was the Concorde jet removed from operation?

The Concorde was a successful aircraft design in that it could break the sound barrier. However the main reason it was decomissioned was cost. They were too expensive to fly and maintain. The Concorde required lots of fuel to cruise above the speed of sound and other maintanence and engineering issues proved to be too expensive to employ. But there is research being done by big aircraft manufacturers to design a supersonic transport like the Concorde. Hopefully these can carry more passengers for cheaper and give everyone a chance to break the sound barrier. The plane breaking the sound barrier over land caused a lot of damage. It was limited to Atlantic Ocean fly overs, and did not carry enough fuel to fly over the Pacific Ocean. The cost of the fuel was more expensive than the money it could make from business travelers. Eventually it proved to be too expensive to fly.Operational cost is the main reason for thatIt cost an absolute fortune to operate. BA have been making a loss for years. (Not sure about Air France) After the September attacks, fewer people flew. This compounded the problem. So when a Concorde crashed it was seen as a good enough reason to cut off a huge drain on the company finances. It was more profitable to fly in a normal aircraft like the Boeing 747 and so on.

How do you go supersonic on fsx?

Go over MACH 1. Preferably in a military jet.

What airlines fly concord jet to israel?

No one flies the Concorde anymore. They were only flown by British Airways and Air France, and were retired in 2003. I don't know whether service to Israel was offered, though I doubt it since supersonic speeds were only possible over open ocean because of the sonic boom generated.

What is the putnams grievance over land what significance might this have in the story?

They wanted control over the land so they could kick others off

How fast can you go around the world with the supersonic car?

Not possible without traveling over water.

Will Concorde ever fly again?

No, it never was a practical aircraft and became obsolete, unsafe, and unmaintainable. In the 1960s when it was designed the US, USSR, and Canada also designed similar SSTs. Only the USSR actually succeeded in building and flying theirs. However due to environmental issues, concerns over property damage from sonic booms, rising costs, etc. all of these other projects were ended by the 1980s. Eventually those issues caught the Concorde too, and following some serious accidents including the complete loss of one plane and all aboard when a tire blew out after running over debris on the runway, it was decided to end it too.
