A battery that is only at 50% is not a good battery unless it just needs charging.
Don't believe a word AutoZone tells you. My battery died so I went there and they tested my battery and alternator and told me it was the battery. So I bought a new battery and 2 days later, dead again. Went back and they tested again and THIS time, it was the alternator. I went nuts on them and ended up getting both my battery AND alternator for free for their mistake that left me stranded at 12am.
The battery light comes on when the alternator is not charging. Changing the battery did nothing. Either put a gauge on the battery to see if it is charging, or while running, disconnet the positive cable from the battery. If the car dies that means the alternator is not charging. Most parts stores will check it for free. Oriely's , Autozone, etc.
It could be a loose gas cap often times. Autozone gives free diagnostic checks. If it could be a sensor. Take off the negative cable from the battery and place it back on the battery it will reset the check engine light.
Do you have a amp??if you do it could be that the amp is sucking alot of energy from battery. And I'm guessing u have a stock alternator take your battery to autozone tell them if they can charge it is free and they will tell you is your Battery is bad.. If you don't hav all this maybe you hav a bad alternator and it wont charge ur battery maybe u need a new alternator...,just take your truck to autozone and tell them if they can check your battery and alternator from there you will know what's wrong hope this helps alot I had the same thing and it suck
it might be the alternator, try and get it tested. if the car won't start the battery will also be dead, you could replace the battery and drive it to get the alternator tested at an autozone or advance auto parts for free.
Bad connection at the starter. Bad battery connection Dead battery Dead starter Check the first 3 with a voltmeter and your eyes. Check the start if needed at a local autozone/advanced auto
You could go onto to AutoZone.com and click on careers, it is possible they even have an online application on their web site. Or you could stop into your local AutoZone store and ask for an application.
The charging system is reporting a problem. This could be a bad battery, poor/dirty connections at the terminals of the battery, a faulty alternator or a short in the wiring between these. Since the vehicle is post 1996, you can bring it to many auto parts stores and they will scan it for free(Advance Auto, AutoZone), to see if there are any codes stored.
Remove the Negative (black) battery terminal while the vehicle is running and if the vehicle dies then it's the alternator, if it stays running then it's the battery. Although this method isn't guaranteed it's usually accurate. DO NOT REMOVE THE POSITIVE terminal (red) from the battery while it's running. It could cause a spark and make the battery explode. Another way is to drive to Autozone or Advanced Auto and ask them to test it. They'll do it for free.
Make certain the cables from the battery to the starter and the body are good...may be a starter check out your local library for a shop manual and the checks to make.. d
alternator is bad........ my best guess.... or your battery is surface charging and cant take a load....... go to an autoparts store like advance or autozone n have them check the charging system and battery. -Jarrid-
One reason could be that you have loose connections on your starter and battery or you could have some bad wiring Also have you checked your starter to see if it is any good? If you have an autozone where you live take the starter to autozone and they will test it for free. also could be the solinoide Not sure if I spelled that right anyway it is the thing on your starter that the cable connects to and engages the starter when you turn the key.autozone will tell you if you need the whole starter or just the solinoide.Autozone will not try to sell you something that you don't need that is where I get my parts I would not go anywhere else unless they didn't have the part I need. I hope I helped you
