Haunted houses and treasure often have nothing to do with each other. However, there is a slight possibility that a ghost may be guarding a treasure because quite often a ghost can be attached to an object so treasure could be this object. But generally hunted houses have nothing to do with treasure.
In Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," the treasure was buried by Injun Joe, a character in the story. He had stolen the gold from a robbery and hidden it in the haunted house before being trapped inside.
