Pregnancy Tests
Spotting While Pregnant

Could you be pregnant if you have a very faint positive pregnancy test and then 2 days of spotting and then a negative result followed by bleeding that is more like your period?

it sounds like you used a early detecion pt. it is possible that you were pregnant and had a very early mc. it would explain the faint positive than negative. But their could be other reasons like medication, elevated hcg levels for other resons than pregnancy

Pregnancy tests have also been known to give false positives. Especially if you check them after the 3-5 minutes - the longer they sit the more inaccurate they become.

It sounds like a chemical pregnancy. I had the same thing happen. I believe they are also called spontanious abortions. Most woman have them-they just think they are a little late but then their period comes so they don't think twice about it. You can find a lot of information about it on the internet.

You probably had a very early miscarriage (also called a chemical pregnancy). The same thing happened to me. It happens to a lot of women and they don't even know it.

Regardless of bleeding, a pregnancy test will still detect a pregnancy. If u had a positive pregnancy test and now it is negative and you are bleeding, you likely lost the baby. :(

It really depends on how long after the bleeding you had the blood test. If you had the blood test within 5 days after the bleeding and it was negative then its possible you wasnt pregnant. But if you had the blood test less than 5 days after the bleeding and it was negative, then you was not pregnant. But a pregnancy test should only go positive when HCG has been detected and this is only during pregnancy.

No , but a negative test can be a false positive .

It could have been a chemical pregnancy, when your body thinks it is pregnant but the embryo did not fully implant.

Signs of pregnancy are missing periods and a positive pregnancy test. The contraceptive implant does not affect the accuracy of pregnancy tests.

Home pregnancy tests rarely give you a false-positive. If two pregnancy tests have shown positive, I would say that you are definitely pregnant. The may've mucked up the blood test. Judge for yourself if you have any other signs of pregnancy. Sore breasts? Nausea? Dizziness and headaches? Bloating?

On a pregnancy test where you get a positive or a negative sign, the positive (plus sign) indicates pregnancy, while the negative indicates non-pregnant.

A mix of blood and urine on the pregnancy test will dilute the hormone and can make it more difficult to detect. So, yes. It can keep you from getting positive response.

It is rare that you will get a false positive. Make sure you are reading the directions correctly on the box for each pregnancy test you take. They need to be on a flat, dry surface and left alone until the time limit in the directions. If you had some bleeding/spotting this could be implantation bleeding which is common in your first symptoms of pregnancy. I only tested positive on a Clearblue pregnancy test. No other test would give me a positive. So it could also be the brand you are using. I wouldn't recommend dollar store pregnancy tests. Pregnancy tests aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Hard telling really. I took 2 hpts before I started bleeding and they were positive. Then when I was bleeding I took 2 more and they were negative. Haven't gone to the doctor yet. So I'm not real sure if the blood interferes with the results or not. For a sure pregnancy test you should go to your doctor. .

You need to confirm the positive pregnancy test result with your Doctor. See your Doctor for a pregnancy blood test. Pregnancy does cause a increase in vaginal discharge.

This happened to me when I got pregnant with my third child. The first test was negative and the second positive. From what I understand, a pregnancy test can give a false negative but rarely gives a false positive.

it could be a miscarriage but it could also just be the egg planting itself. it just depends on how much spotting it was//

Bleeding on the birth control pill is not a sign of pregnancy. Absent period and positive pregnancy test are signs of pregnancy. if you think you might be pregnant, take a test.

Positive pregnancy tests are far more likely to be accurate than negative tests. If you had even one positive pregnancy test, you were extremely likely to have been pregnant at the time you did the test. If the bleeding was after the positive tests ran, but before the negative test, then the bleeding was likely symptomatic of a miscarriage. However, if even one positive test was taken AFTER the bleeding, then you are probably still pregnant. Take good care of yourself either way- take a prenatal vitamin, and it's a good idea to see your HCP.

If you are genuinely having a period, then the test will come out negative because you cannot be pregnant. However, some women think they are menstruating when they may be bleeding for some reason in early pregnancy. The test then could either be positive or negative depending on the condition of the baby.
