You have to replace with springs and shocks
You could do that. The air shocks would have to be manually inflated. You may run into a competition between the manually leveling system and the automatic levilng system.
You may want to seek professional help to replace the shocks. You could try searching http://www.yellowpagecity.com/ for your nearest mechanic. Otherwise, try searching for websites which detail how to replace shocks in cars.
To replace shocks on the rear wheels of a pickup truck will cost around $100 for the shocks. Labor costs differ by region, but this job might take 1 to 2 hours. Labor could be as high as $100 an hour.
Your best bet is to replace the air shocks with a spring adapter kit. The kit retails for about $400 and is fairly easy to install. My mechanic charged me for 1.5 hrs labor but after seeing what was involved i think i could have done it myself. The Ford dealers were'nt interested in doing the kit and wanted $1500 to $2000 to replace the air bags. The ride seems a bit harsher but my 98 is still a fine ride.
Rear shocks are easy however the front shocks require spring compression devices that must be used properly or you could get seriously injured or killed. The Heavy duty Bilstein shocks are very popular with the people at our enthusiasts forum. www.trailvoy.com
It could be your shock or structs(shocks) It could be your shock or structs(shocks) It could be your shock or structs(shocks)
well no you would have to take the tire off and put a spring compressor on the spring then you could take off the shock you can rent a spring compressor for auto part place
They run best on premium but you could get away with regular but the MPG and the performance will suffer.
Front shocks. You may feel what I could describe as an "UP" bounce feel. If you replace the front shocks this will minimize that feel. However, the Frontier front suspension is quite "bouncy" good truck.
you could put a lincoln penny in the tread groove, with lincoln head facing up, if you could see all of the top of lincoln's head its time to replace the tire.
It could.
Back in the 1940's and earlier you could rebuild the hydraulic shocks in many vehicles but since then they cannot be rebuilt, just replace with a new one.
