Gynocracy : rule by women

Example : "The male children of the Amazons could not be allowed to live in the gynocracy."

Sociological Basis

Gynocracy (also gynecocracy or gynaecocracy) is the principle of "rule by women". Matriarchal societies have existed in many areas, but the concept strictly applied would mean that only women had a say in the governing of the community.

The early analysis by the Swiss sociologist Johann Jacob Bachofen (1815-1867) and by Friedrich Engels (1820-1895) suggested that early human societies were based on matriarchal lineage because human males were polygamous. Other sociologists believe that a patriarchal form was the dominant culture among the early Aryans of Europe.

A mythical form of rule by women is the all-female Amazon culture reported by Herodotus (484-425 BC) and later Greek historians.
