Yes. Ive Recently had a throat infection as well and was put on penicillin two 500gm capsules twice a day for 12 days. My period was late by 9 days because of it despite pregnancy tests being negative
NO. By taking only one pill you are actually helping that strain of streptococcus bacteria build up a tolerance to penicillin. Take the full dosage as prescribed even when you start to feel better.
Noncompliance by the patient. That means patient has not taken the penicillin tablets as per advice.
i don't know but im doin it tonight , i have a throat infection, it hurts like crazy so the only way im gunna get to sleep is probably by taking 4 (5mg) Valium
It might if the sore throat is due to an infection by bacteria that are sensitive to penicillin, and most bacteria that cause sore throats are. However, the most common causes of a sore throat are viruses and viral infections are not treated with antibiotics like penicillin, since viruses (e.g., the cold and flu viruses) are not sensitive to or "killed" by antibiotics like bacteria are. You may want to try some of the home remedies given in the related question, or contact your health care professional for evaluation and treatment.
strep throat
Yes. You can get the same infection transferred to genital tract. Puerperal sepsis can be caused by strep throat bacteria. This can happen through droplet infection or contamination of the instruments by carrier. You have to treat this infection vigorously with very high dose of injection benzyl penicillin (one million units every four hours) with aminoglycoside.
This also happened to me while taking it for trep throat.
It would depend on the source of the infection. That is why we see a doctor and/or have a throat culture taken. If it is not a bacterial infection (virus or yeast) than an antibiotic would not help and treating with antibiotics will delay proper treatment and may allow the infection to progress to a more serious stage. If it is bacterial, penicillin is the usual antibiotic unless the patient has a penicillin allergy or the doctor knows that penicillin is not appropriate for that type of bacteria.
Yes,but MOST people do NOT. If it is a resistant strain of strep,or your body has immunity to penicillin...
One powerful drug used to treat strep throat is penicillin. It is a commonly prescribed antibiotic that works by killing the bacteria causing the infection. Other antibiotics, such as amoxicillin or cephalosporins, may also be used depending on the specific circumstances and patient allergies.
The current recommendation is still penicillin (or amoxicillin) and azithromycin is penicillin allergic.
before penicillin ............ many people died of infections such as sore throat and diseases
