As we all know that leadership is a process used by someone to influence group towards achieving a group task,whereas the influence is viewed as legitimate,justified and reasonable.

Current leadership requirements are

1. A leader as a single individual should be able to fulfill group roles

2. It should have a systemic and continuous series of action

3. Action should aim at influencing followers

4. Influence should be geared toward achieving group goals

5.The influence should be seen as legitimate, reasonable and a justifiable one by the followers

The above are the current requirements of leaders.

The impact of external factors on leadership requirements are

Political factor play a huge role in the leadership requirement as policies of taxes, green house, budget e.t.c differ from one political party to the other especially when there is political instability. This factor either increases, decreases or replaces a leader in an organization.

Economic factor is seriously affecting the current leaders as the political leaders are also affected with this inability to solve the economic problems we are facing. Global recession is the other of the modern day economy where there is a serious drop in GDP of countries. Leaders in this era of global recession are faced with the decision of satisfying customers with good quality products at an affordable price and at the same time bringing the cost of production down.

Sociocultural factor is all about the attitude and life style of followers and customers which changes from time to time. This is having a serious impact in the leadership requirement as a leader should have a knowledge of the c hanging trend of people's attitude always. This unpredictable change in behavior has put leaders on their feet to keep in touch constantly with the changes in their environment.

Technological factor is another that is seriously giving leaders concern as technologies are becoming fastly obsolute due to the fast growing world. Companies with technological power are facst penetrating international market without any barriers to free trade aided by globalisation. a leader is seriously affected withn tha decision on how to keep in touch with modern technology to avoid unsuccessful accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives, as they are left with options of collaborating or acquiring organization with an updated technology.
