Cycles Per Hour (CPH) is the number of times the thermostat will turn the system on and off using 50% of its capacity.

CPH 3 (Gas 90%+ efficiency) the system will turn on and off three times in one hour using 50% of the systems capacity.

CPH 9 (Electric) the system will turn on and off nine times in one hour using 50% of the systems capacity.
