The American Sign Language (ASL) is the body gesture language that most deaf people in the United States and Canada use to communicate. The ASL has its own grammar, that even though being based in English, it differs from the common English grammar. It lacks of tenses, articles and numbers. This people combine facial expressions, hand expressions and large bogy movements to create letters, words and sentences. Most of the signs represent whole words or concepts, but the signers can use this same signs (this signs are formed with a single hand) for individual letters to spell words that are not frequently used.
