The Long-Range planning division writes the comprehensive plan, area plans, zoning ordinance and subdivision ordinance. They literally plan for the long-term health of the city. The short-range or current planning division enforces the ordinances and does rezoning, site plans, Board of Zoning Appeals cases - anything that takes plan here and now.
