Be honest about it. I know teens (both guys/girls) are very conscious of their looks and fearful of rejection, but honesty is the best policy. Don't tell a girl for instance that you are 6' 3" tall, about 210 lbs., with blond hair and blue eyes and a good bawd when you are under 6' tall, are about 175 - 185 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes and you have an average build. Lying at the beginning of a possible relationship or even friendship will make the relationship explode like a bomb. If you are a girl then tell the person exactly what you look like. When you get to know each other better then the guy/girl can certainly choose a good picture of themselves and send it to each other. "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!" My niece is almost 6 feet tall, big-boned and statuesque and many people think she's beautiful. She has long blond hair, blue eyes and peaches and cream complexion, but she use to think she was an ugly duckling and as much as said so. One day she did meet a nice guy on line and to make a long story short he came out to meet her parents, and she went to Calgary to meet his parents. They were a couple for awhile, but, she wanted to travel after she graduated from high school and had some work experience so they split-up and she is in Australia now. They still remain friends to this day and who knows, perhaps after a year of her travels she will realize she has really missed him.
