First of all you don't have to take off the intake manifold - what you do need to do is get a small 1/4" -- 9/16 socket - universial joint - and 10inch extension - you are making a flexible scredriver to remove the hose clamps. Take your time and patiently remove the hose clamps and the hose - antifreeze will drain out. if you don't want the mess - siphon it out of the filler kneck before you start.

Once the hose clamps are loose on the thermostat end and the radatior end - pull the hose off the radiator (removing air cleaner helps give you room). then twist the hose so it lets go of the thermostat end . and pull the hose out from under the intake manifold.

Then simply and carefully - put a 10mm socket on a 10" extension and remove the 2 thermostat mounting bolts. Carefully lift the thermostat housing up and around the AC house and the Fuel line. when off remove the old theremostat. Don't reuse anything - buy a new thermostat and gasket (o ring) and buy lifetime ones. PUt the new o ring on the thermostat and position it in the houseing so you can see the spring side (it will go down into the engine block. Spin it clock wise until the little vent lines up with the notch in the housing. you can tell if its' right when you look down the house from teh top and see the thermostat opening centered in the kneck.

Put ant-seize on the two 10mm bolts.

Clean off the engine block side and carefully lower in the housing (which is now holding the new thermostat). Line up the holes and insert the two 10mm bolts. alternate tigtening them back and forth. to evenly compress the o ring seal. Remember you are dealing with plastic - so don't go crazy - gently snug the bolts tight.

Then thread the radiator hose back under the manifold and wiggle it on the thermostat housing - rotate the hose clamp to about 10 o'clock so you can get you r "flexible socket screwdriver" on the tightening nut and gently tighten the hoseclamp. Put the other end back on the radiator and tighten that hose clamp.

Put the aircleaner back on - fill the radiator back up at the fill cap with antifreeze.

Check for leaks - run until hot - let cool - then check antifreeze level again - and check again for any leaks.
