No. Most of them were 2-bolt mains. The 3/4 and 1 ton 350 engines were 4-bolt main engines. All the 1/2 tons had the 2-bolt main block.
The earliest small block I've encountered with 4 bolt mains was a large journal 327 from about 67 or so.
I've rebuilt many 1992 through 1995 350 engines in Z71 and siliverados and have yet to see a 4 bolt main. I've only seen them in the 3/4 tons and heaver.
My 1970 gmc 2500 came has one.
Generally, you can't. GM installed both 2 and 4 bolt main caps on many different cylinder block castings. Now, some blocks were never offered with 4 bolt mains. Any low performance displacement (262,267, 305, 307, etc) always had 2 bolt mains. Small journal engines (pre-1969 chevy small blocks) typically had 2 bolt mains even on performance engines.
no
it was made in 1969 from what i found.i have one that is 3932386 that left id pad says is a 327 out of full size car 210 hp.but that casting was also used for a 302 and 350 came in mostly 4 bolt mains but Chevy history says there was some 2 bolt 327's.
The GM F Body LT1 cars got the 2 bolt mains. Only the Corvette LT1 got the 4 bolt mains with aluminum heads.
I can't answer your question but I can say that my 260 hp 350 Mercruiser has 2 bolt mains and a 4 bolt rear main. Go figure! So I take it from your question that you also have 2 bolt mains with a 4 bolt rear main.
It was used in 1986 and up, some of them are 2- bolt mains and 4-bolt mains. They were NOTHING special. It does have a 1-piece rear main seal.
There are no castings that were used exclusively for 4 bolt main applications.
Almost all Chevies have been available with 4 bolt mains since the late 50's.
