The final executive order of the Emancipation Proclamation, only freed slaves in the areas of the Confederacy that had not already returned to Union/federal control by January 1863.

The thirteenth Amendment. abolished and outlawed slavery, throughout the US. It was ratified by 3/4 of the states in December of 1865, though it had passed both Houses, and was signed by President Lincoln, on February 1, 1865.

Yes and No. Because he was the one who started the civil war in 1861-1865. So being that, ''some'' slaves were let loose to help fight the civil war. But not ALL slaves were in peace. The tragety did not end right then and there.

There were nearly 450,000 slaves in the north at the end of the civil war. The emancipation proclamation did not free slaves outside of the CSA.

It only take some light reading to confirm this.
