the last thing ever reported on the radio from her was "we are running north and south"
she died because her fuel was running low and she could not land because at the time she was over the Pacific Ocean and it was very foggy . she was only flying about 1000 feet above water at the time as well .
she was aware of the hazards though, before she took off she said " i want to do it because i want to, i know the dangers but woman must try to do thing men have done. When they fail it will be womans job to fix their mistakes."

i would say her strengths were that she never let anyone get in the way. When she made up her mind that was it. You couldn't stop her.
It's difficult to say what aviator Amelia Earhart would personally say was the hardest thing she went through. However, her first attempt to fly around the world in 1937 was unsuccessful. She disappeared later that year on her second attempt.
