Yes they did, in WW1.
No. Incorrect. An Australian, Lance De Mole invented the tank in 1912. He submitted it to the British War Office, but was rejected. and again in 1914, and 1916. Eventually they accepted.
An English man took out a patent on a concept but never produced a working machine. De mole produced a working model. It travelled at 2.5 miles per hour. It is on display in the Australian War memorial.
How do you know that the tank was made in Britain and why do you need to know? BecauseI know they made it in World War 1 and for a history class. The first tank was made and used by England/Great Britain in 1915 during World War I. The tanks at that time actually had no weapons on them. They were solely used to carry soldiers where no other vehicles could go.
Lancelot De mole made a model of the first tank in 1912. He sent the model to Britain but they rejected it. Soon after the British Remade the Tank in 1919 and used it in wars to be but we took back the idea and that is how we have tanks today.
he created the first tank.

No, HG Wells did not invent the first tank. The first tank was invented during World War I by the British military. It was first used in combat in 1916. HG Wells did, however, popularize the concept of heavily armored vehicles in his science fiction novel "The Land Ironclads."

The French were the first to invent a tank with armor. It was Jean Baptiste Estienne idea to add armor and artillery to a Holt tractor.
