the message of prophet Jesus was before the message of prophet Muhammad but they both preached the same thing : submission to the one god. so actually all the messengers and prophets that god has sent came with the same message which is Islam.

Islam means submission, surrender, and obedience to the one god so the message of Moses, Jesus, Muhammad and all the other prophets was Islam , the word Christianity was a term given to describe the message of Jesus after it was distorted and lost,so actually the original followers of Jesus were not called Christians.

From a Muslim point of view, yes, because Islam began with the creation of Adam. According to Islam, all of the prophets before Mohammed were actually preaching Islam and that message was distorted by the people of the other various faiths.

From a secular point of view, Islam was founded from 610-632 CE through Mohammed's revelation of the Qur'an. This occurred long after the Christian Church was founded in the late 90s CE.
