It is difficult to know exactly what he wore, since Photography had not been invented yet and there are few paintings of him in the time when he was alive. But what we do know is that many men of his era would have worn a long coat, a shirt that was probably white or light colored, loose-fitting pants that came to the knees (and sometimes looked like bloomers), and long stockings, as well as a cap made of soft fabric.
