Yes they did. They actually kept slaves 17 years or so after the emancipation proclamation was signed by President Lincoln. They had slaves longer than the U.S and Britain.
I must correct this answer a bit. While yes, France, along with Britain, Denmark, The Netherlands, Spain/Portugal and many others had slaves, France and the French west indies ended slavery about 14 years prior to Lincoln signing the Emancipation Proclamation. They were under pressure from slave uprising and the other European countries. French did, however, transport and enslave about 4 times as many africans as Britain/America did.
