James McDougal and his wife, Susan were financial partners with Bill and Hillary Clinton in the Whitewater deal that turned into a political scandal in the 1990s. He went to prison for fraud and conspiracy for his misdeeds in connection with Whitewater. He and the Clintons borrowed a bunch of money to buy land for vacation homes in the Ozarks. When things went bad, McDougal tried to cover the losses with funds from Madison Savings & Loan, which he operated. When he was charged with fraud, he hired the law firm Hillary was a partner of to defend him. He also held a fund raiser for Bill Clinton where about a quarter of the money donated came in the form of cashier's checks from Madison S&L. He died of a heart attack while in solitary confinement in prison. Ken Starr, the independent counsel investigating the Clinton's involvement in Whitewater had been questioning him in connection with his investigation. The autopsy on him confirmed that it was a heart attack.

Ron Brown died along with 34 others on his plane when it slammed into a mountainside in Croatia. Conspiracy theorists have suggested that he was eliminated because he was under investigation by independent council for corruption and had made comments to the effect that if he "went down", he would take others with him. The final Air Force investigation attributed the crash to pilot error and a poorly designed landing approach.

Considering how anxious the Republicans were to get him out of the way by attempting to impeach him when he was president, it seems likely that if there were any solid evidence that he had arranged to have someone killed, they would have made sure it came out in the hearings.
