∙ 13y agoMany Nazi fled to Argentina and other South American countries following the defeat of the Third Reich but Adolf Hitler was not among them. He committed suicide in Berlin with his bride Eva Braun and their bodies were burned. According to KGB files made public after the Soviet Union's disintegration, Russian troops recovered the charred remains and turned them over to the secret police who buried them under a garage in East Berlin. Later they were exhumed, ground up, and dumped into a river.
A dead Hitler lookalike was found in the chancelary hall before the Soviet soldiers discovered the bunker, on the final day of the war. Why was this trick carried out by the Germans ? Nobody gave an answer, except to say that it was "an easily distinguished lookalike and the Soviets never believed it". The story of the half burned bodies was unfolded later. But there is also the mysterious visit of ace pilot Hanna Reitsch to Hitler bunker a few days before the downfall. Why ? It is possible that Hitler did flee to Argentine after all. The reason he never surfaced again was the post war international nazi hunt and the probable reluctance of Argentinian authorities to let him make a political come back.

∙ 9y agoNo, he committed suicide in Berlin on April 30th, 1945. The Soviets found his body and then in secret sent the body to Moscow to be identified (which it was). The rest of the world did not know this, and some people always wondered if he has escaped out of Berlin. German witnesses had told the British, French & Americans that they had seen Hitler's body before the Soviets overran the Hitler Bunker in Berlin in May 1945. After the cold war ended in the 1990's, the Soviets (now Russian government) released the history of the discovery & identification of Hitler's body.
