The land of Israel is referred to in The Bible as the land of milk and honey. After 40 years wandering in the wilderness after leaving Eygpt, Moses brought the nation to the eastern side of the Jordan river. There, 2.5 tribes of the 12 tribes settled. However, Moses was not allowed to enter the land west of the Jordan river which is what is genernally referred to the land of milk and honey. Rather, it was Joshua who was moses' successor the the leader that led the nation in conquering the land.
