In the days of Paul's culture, the men and women sat apart from each other. The men sat together and the women sat with each other. Paul travelled from one pagan god place to another teacher Jesus Christ and Him crucified. As he spoke in the churches teacher about Jesus Christ, the women would ask their husbands questions regarding Paul's teachings which was an interruption in the church with so many women asking their husbands to explain what Paul was saying. Paul then told them:

I Corinthians 14:34-35

34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

This had everything to do with eliminating confusion while Paul was preaching. I Cor. 11:4-6 says...

4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

How can the woman prophesy if she doesn't speak. She had to have something on her head to differentiate her from the temple prostitutes who had shaven heads. The women who wore something on their heads in that culture were respected.

What did Paul say about women in the church?

Paul wrote about women in the church in his letters to the Corinthians and Timothy. He emphasized that women should learn quietly and not have authority over men in the church. However, he also recognized the important roles women played in serving and ministering within the church.

Why shouldn't women have equal rights in religion what problems might it cause in the future?

there is no reason at all! Sometimes people misinterpet the verse in the new testament that says, "women should be silent in church" to mean that women should not be teachers in the church. But when Paul wrote this verse women had only very recenty been allowed in church and therefore didn't know as much as the men did. If thee women had been allowed to ask questions throut the entire sermon they never would have gotten anything done! Paul just meant that until the women studied the bible and knew a lot about it they should save their question for later instead of interupting the sermon every thirty seconds. Paul never meant to say women can't teach in church.

Why were the voices of women silenced in the Purtian church?

In the Puritan church, women's voices were often silenced due to patriarchal beliefs that viewed men as the spiritual leaders. Women were expected to be submissive and follow the authority of male figures in religious matters. This led to limited opportunities for women to speak, teach, or hold leadership roles within the church.

Why do women speak in the church but 1Cor 1433 do not allow that?

Some interpretations understand this verse in 1 Corinthians as a cultural reference to the cultural norms of the time. It is important to consider the overall message of the Bible, which emphasizes equality of all believers. In many churches today, women are encouraged and allowed to speak and participate in all aspects of church life.

What is the statas of women and Christianity?

Christians believe that all people are made equal in the image of God. Jesus taught equality for both men and women.St Paul, however, in one of his letters, taught that women should submit to their husbands, but this quote was for a particular church at a particular time, answering a particular problem they had, and was never considered a general Christian rule, which is that men and women are different, biologically and psychologically, but equal.Sadly, though, some members of the Christian church will not accept this and refuse to allow women their full role in the ministry of the Church. A case in point is the Roman Catholic Church which will not allow women to be ordained as priests. However, Jesus never taught this discrimination, and most forward-thinking Churches today like the Anglican Church and the Methodist Church have allowed women to be ordained for decades. And so they should.

What parts of mainstream Christianity have been used for misogyny?

Women have always been an important part of the Christian Church, so it would be hard to say that "mainstream Christianity" has practiced misogyny - the hatred of women and girls. However, for most of its history, women's role in Church leadership has not been accepted as being equal to that of men, even though this cuts across Jesus' inclusion of women in his party of close disciples. We can even look at his teaching that Mary, rather than Martha, had chosen the better part in seeking to spend more time in learning his teaching, and his first appearance after his resurrection to Mary Magdalene, and his instruction to her to tell the other disciples about this. Women were also an important part of Paul's ministry, as can be found in the letters that can be unambiguously attributed to him. In regard to 1 Timothy and Titus, one must question whether Paul wrote them. The main objection (apart from the stylistic one that separates them from Paul's other works) is 1 Tim. 2:15, where Paul is made to say that women are saved by childbirth. It is hard to imagine Paul actually saying that, since he was insistent that all, men and women, slaves and free, Jew and Greek, are saved though faith in Jesus. With regard to Paul, the only other fly in the ointment is 1 Cor. 14:33-38 where Paul says that women should keep silent in church. This is in the context of women asking questions during the service. It cannot mean that women cannot speak in church, since in the same work, in 1 Cor. 11:3-10, he says that women should pray or prophesy with their heads covered. It would be very hard to prophesy without speaking, so we have to try to understand the context in 1 Cor. 14:33-38, since it cannot mean that women cannot speak in church. Nevertheless, these New Testament passages have been used to justify keeping women out of leadership roles. While this is not symptomatic of "hatred of women," it is not supportive of women's ministry, and has caused much anguish of heart amongst women who want to serve Christ in that kind of public manner.

Why did Paul suffer not a women to teach in the epistles to Timothy?

Scholars are almost unanimous that Paul did not write 1 Timothy or 2 Timothy . These epistles are called the 'Pastorals' because they were written to deal with pastoral issues that had arisen in the second century, including the roles of bishops and of women in the church. Paul himself had seen a subordinate role for women, and these epistles were strengthening and formalising that view.
