What is a myth about Medusa?

Theres actually two myths about Medusa. The first is about her and Posideon. She was his girlfriend. They decided to meet in Athena's temple (Athena and P. dont like each other for other reasons) and she got offended and turned her into that ugly monster. The other myth is about how Perseus killed her. He used his shield as a mirror so he could kill her without looking her in the eye; and out popped Pegasus!

Who created pegusus?

Pegasus has a rather complex creation. The sea God Poseidon and the Gorgon Medusa had a love affair - unfortunately they 'made-out' in the temple of Athena which seriously angered the Goddess who then cursed Medusa (as she was unable to punish Poseidon). Medusa became a hideous monster of exceptional powers (able to turn men to stone with a simple glance). No Greek champion was able to kill her; many ended up stone statues in her garden. Then the youth Perseus (who happened to be one of the many illegitimate sons of Zeus) was tricked into a situation where he was obligated to kill Medusa. (Its a complex tale see link Perseus.) Seeing this as a chance to resolve a rather thorny situation Zeus, Hades, Mercury and Athena united to provide Perseus with the weapons, magical articles, and knowledge needed to kill Medusa. This was a covert operation as Medusa still had the patronage of Poseidon who was one of the big three Olympians. Perseus succeeded in cutting off Medusa's head and her blood that dripped onto the seashore created both Pegasus and Chrysaor. So you see the parentage of Pegasus is primarily Poseidon and Medusa but also includes interference from Perseus and the other Olympians. see link Pegasus.

Are gorgons still alive?

no because the other two must've been slayed because they couldn't turn anybody to stone like Medusa but Medusa must be dead because Perseus decapitated her in Greek mythology
