No. Neither side won. The Iran-Iraq War ended when both countries accepted UNSC Resolution 598, which was a ceasefire, on August 20, 1988. The borders went back to pre-war conditions and no gains were achieved by either Iraqi or Iranian forces. Relations between the two countries did not resume until Iraq's government was re-established following the American overthrow of Saddam Hussein.

What is the Golf War?

The gulf not golf war was the war that occurred in Kuwait (a small country below Iraq) between Iraq forces and American forces. Saddam Hussein at the time invaded Kuwait for it's oil supplies, and America came in fought against him. In the end America and Kuwait forces managed to win and Iraq retreated.

What could Saddam Hussein had done better to win the 1990-1991 Gulf War?

The simple answer would be not to have attempted an invasion of Iran in September of 1980. This resulted in a costly war between the two, which lasted for eight years, cost both countries vast amounts of money and resources, and left the Iraqi military reeling from losses which it was a long way from recovering from in 1990. This would also have alleviated the reason Saddam launched an invasion of Kuwait, which in turn could've prevented both the Persian Gulf war and the ongoing war in Iraq.

Why did the 8 year war Iran start?

It started because of ancient differences between the two countries. After the 1979 revolution in Iran , Saddam Hussein thought Iran would be easy to beat. Eventually the wasr lasted for 8 years with over 1 million casualties, and neither side could win.

Did the United States regard Saddam Hussein as an ally?

No. Although Iraq began a war with Iran while the Hostage Crisis was ongoing, it was seen by the US government as a war between two brutal dictatorships; both of them unfriendly to the United States, and a war in which the United States wanted neither side to win. Sadaam Hussein in Iraq was never seen as a US ally, any more than the Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran was seen as a US ally.

Goal for us invasion into Iraq?

The United States didn't want to invade Iraq for their oil. (that was the earlier answer) The reason why the United States interfered was this: Kuwait and Iraq share oil fields, and every so often, each country is allowed to take a certain amount of oil from the fields. Then, Saddam Hussein decided that he wanted more than his fair share of oil. He wanted all of it. So he blamed Kuwait for taking more oil than allowed, to start a conflict that he might win. The United States thought that this wasn't a good idea, and they decided to invade Iraq to help Kuwait. (the answer to the question) The United States fought on Kuwait's side until Iraq and Saddam Hussein realized that they couldn't win. The Saddam Hussein did something so incredibly stupid. He burned all of the oil! Hussein was acting like a big baby, saying "If I can't have it, no one can!" The United States still won, but the disappointing part was that Hussein remained in power. When the troops returned, the American citizens provided overwhelming support for them. I hope you meant the first invasion, and I !!
