Where did Rhett Butler say he was going at the end of 'Gone With the Wind'?

Rhett Butler did not say where he was going at the end of the book or the movie "Gone with the Wind." He was busy saying to Scarlett O'Hara, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn," to her question, "Where will I go, what will I do?" However, our forever strong and determined Scarlett answered her own question by saying, "Tara. I'll go home to Tara, and there I'll think of some way to get him back. After all, tomorrow is another day." When Scarlett finally realized that she loved Rhett and told him that she was sorry, he told her that all she thought she ever had to do to set things right was to say she was sorry. She told him that she loved him, and he said, "Then we're at cross-purposes, my dear. Any love can wear out." Scarlett realized that she loved Rhett at about the time his love for her had finally been crushed. We saw no more of Scarlett and Rhett, for that was the end of the book and of the movie. After the recent death of Melanie Wilkes, whom Rhett respected, he cared no more for Atlanta since there was no one there whom he continued to love. In neither the book nor the movie did he say where he intended to go when he left Scarlett. Since Rhett's home was Charleston, and his mother and other family members were still living there, we can assume that it was Charleston for which he headed. And, as Scarlett's mumbled plans would have it, she also had relatives in Charleston, who would be happy for her to pay a visit. Margaret Mitchell, author of "Gone with the Wind," left it there for us to visualize our own stories, but how can we not imagine that Scarlett managed to track Rhett down in Charleston, and with her tiny waist and beautiful new clothes, manage to charm him back into her waiting arms and scheming plans.

What is the significance of rhett and melanie's relationship in Gone With the Wind?

Scarlett hates Melanie in the begining, for Scarlett thinks she is in love with Ashley Wilkes, Melanie's husband. Melanie, oblivious to Scarlett's love for Ashley, loves Scarlett like a sister. Toward the end of the book, Scarlett and Ashely are caught hugging each other, (And in those days if a married man hugged a woman, it would be considered cheating on his wife) and they were caught by India Wilkes, Ashley's sister, who tells Melanie. Melanie now knows of Scarlett's lust for Ashley, but still defends her and loves her. In the end of the book, when Melanie dies, Scarlett realizes that she loved Melanie, and that she never loved Ashley, but she loved Rhett Butler, whom she was married to at the time. But when she goes home, she tells Rhett that she loves him, not Ashley, and he doesn't believe her, and leaves her. Scarlett got what she desvered, because all of her life, she was a coniving, mean, manipulative, jealous woman, and Rhett Butler, though he loved her, was the only person who wasn't afarid of her enough to give her what she desered.

What happens at the end of Gone With the Wind?

Fiddle-De-De! I can't believe you don't know how this classic tale of the Civil War ends. Well, Scarlet and Rhett's daughter Bonnie is killed in a riding accident.(jumping her pony) At long last Scarlet realized she didn't love Ashley, but instead loved Rhett. Too late, Rhett didn't give a damn and walked out of Tara and out of Scarlet's life. As the last scene faded to black, or you turn the last page if your reading the book, Scarlet was bound and determined to get Rhett back again. The End.
