Australia had no horses until it was colonized by the British 1788. The aborigines appear to have been overwhelmed by colonization before they had any real opportunity to develop a horse culture as did the Native Americans.
Many Aborigines employed in the ranching industry were/are excellent horsemen according to brief research.
