Did ancient people confuse extraterrestrials as gods and created the world's religions?

It's possible but we need more evidence.
This would really depend on what your beliefs are. Most religious groups would say no. Their God is a god and that's all there is to it. Others, such as SETI philosophers believe there is a possibility that aliens were mistaken for gods. Many Athiests would probably tell you that neither of these two options is true.
There are a vast array of beliefs of aliens having visited the Earth as gods, such as the Reptilians, which some believe is the reason some people have rhesus negative blood with strange traits that go along with it. This theory is somewhat like the farmers of the Earth theory, in which life was put on our planet by extraterrestrials and then DNA altered in some. Many believe in a first Genesis and second Genesis, bringing about food Allergies in many first Genesis individuals because of the change of food crops over thousands of years, and differences in blood types. Some believe the ancient Egytian gods were infact the depicted creatures seen in many ancient Egyptian pictures, half human, half bird, cat or dog.
Theories abound, but it's up to the individual to decide what they want to believe. There is no accepted hard evidence that extraterrestrials visited the Earth as gods. But then, there is no hard evidence that God exists either. Search the internet and have a look, and then conclude for yourself.
