NO nobody died, but they came pretty close!!:(
Thankfully, everyone made it back to Earth safely.
The Apollo 7 spacecraft flew to test the Apollo spacecraft after the first one burnt i a fire. And astronauts Virgil grissim, edward White and roger Chaffee died.
Three Astronauts; one space craft. Apollo was the first three Astronaut spacecraft.
The crew of Apollo 13 survived. While they encountered a near-fatal crisis during their mission to land on the moon in 1970, their spacecraft was able to return safely to Earth.
Surveyor One.
Rockets... The first one was Apollo 11
Gemini. Mercury had one astronaut at a time, Gemini had two, and Apollo had three.
The Apollo spacecraft traveled approximately 25,000 miles per hour (40,000 km/h) on its journey to the moon. The spacecraft had to reach this high velocity to escape Earth's gravitational pull and reach the moon.
The Apollo mission that crashed was Apollo 1. In 1967, a cabin fire during a prelaunch test resulted in the loss of the entire crew - astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee. This tragedy led to significant redesigns in the Apollo spacecraft to improve crew safety.
The first mission was the Mercury one manned spacecraft, Gemini was a two man spacecraft and Apollo was a three man mission.
Apollo 14 landed at the site originally planned for Apollo 13. Apollo 15, 16 and 17 also landed on the Moon. Three crews flew to the Skylab space station using Apollo spacecraft, but they were named Skylab missions. The final mission, which used Apollo hardware but not go to the moon, flew as one of the two spacecraft that linked up in orbit with a Soviet crew in the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project. This was the first manned international space mission. I saw that Apollo spacecraft launched from the Kennedy Space Center. This was the last American manned spaceflight until the Space Shuttle almost 6 years later.
The name Apollo was given by N.A.S.A , it was their third manned spacecraft, Mercury was one manned craft, Gemini is named after the constalation Gemini , Twins as it was two man craft . Apollo would be three manned and they aimed to land on the moon, mind you this was way back in 1960.
