Yes. About 172,000.
The cities population was about 340,000 in 1945. When the atomic bomb exploded over Hiroshima the death toll came to 168,000.
Note: I visited the Atomic Bomb Memorial site in Hiroshima. It is a very sobering experience of what the atomic bomb can do. There is hardly anything left standing in the city at the epicenter of the explosion. People were completely vaporized. Many people died in the explosion, but 10,000's more died afterward because of radiation caused infections.
no
The atomic bomb did not exist until 1945, so no it could not be used by anybody in WW1.
No Idea! But I heard they can survive an atomic bomb.
No animals can survive atomic bombs. However, some animals, especially refering to cockroaches, can survive radiation up to a certain level.
A number of people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki did survive the atomic blasts but naturally they were not at the centre of the detonations.
My opinion is, Truman should have used the atomic bomb. If he hadn't the war would have continued, and more would have died. Also I think that at one point the Axis would have dropped a atomic bomb on an allied city, possibly killing more then at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
By 1945 Hiroshima had a civilian population of almost 300,000 and was an important military center, containing about 43,000 soldiers.
If you consider the US atomic bomb is a Christian bomb, the French atomic bomb is also Christian bomb and so on, then you can name the Pakistani atomic bomb an Islamic bomb.
