His father indirectly did. When Abe was a young man his father rented him out to other farmers and collected money; Abe received nothing. Many historians believe this is why he was so opposed to slavery. I don't know if there is any document evidence to support or unsupport his sole authorship; however, he wrote the Gettysburg Address by himself on a train in almost no time at all. This is probably one of the most endeared documents from a political leader. Anyone else have thoughts?

Where was the Emancipation Proclamation applied to slaves?

The Emancipation Proclamation was very carefully worded to not free anyone anywhere at the time of its writing! The Emancipation Proclamation only freed the slaves inside states in rebellion (i.e. Confederacy) and not controlled by Union troops. These states obviously ignored the Emancipation Proclamation and did not free any slaves. At the time the Emancipation Proclamation was written Union troops did not control any of those states. The Emancipation Proclamation explicitly permitted states that had stayed in the Union to keep their slaves. This was because if the Emancipation Proclamation freed such slaves then these states would probably leave the Union and join the Confederacy. Lincoln could not afford to have that happen! In fact the Emancipation Proclamation was a Propaganda document to encourage European support for the Union, and it was not expected to have any effect on either slave masters or enslaved people.Actually freeing the enslaved people would have to wait until after the war.

What did the emancipation proclamation provide in the war?

The Emancipation Proclamation freed all the slaves in Confederate-held states. However, it didn't free the slaves of the border states or anywhere else under federal control. Also, if any Confederate states quit fighting before January 1, they could keep their slaves.

Why did Lincoln wait until after the Battle of Antietam to issue the emancipation proclammation?

freeing the slaves

Who are some famous honest people?

You can't entirely trust anyone but yourself. And you only tell the truth to yourself when you really listen and don't play tricks. Both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were known for their honesty, but this is because any lies they may have told were never widely reported. Today it is easy to get caught in a lie, and after that, people will doubt anything that you say.

Was Lincoln similar to Bismarck Cavour or Alexander II?

I will say both cause he started a civil war much like ewhat Bismarck and Cavour had done and also released the emancipation proclamation much like what Alexander II had done. Although he had won the war but much like Russia differences in class, in Licoln's era differences of race still lives on. He never succeed in truly create a stronger nation he just happens to have better tactics and technology than his rivals. If you are asking about personality i don't think Lincoln was not anyone of them, He is not as ruthless as Bismark nor is he as quite as Alexander II

Why was Abraham Lincoln called the Great Emancipator?

yes, my civics teacher told me. he's known as the great emancipator. Lincoln, during the Civil war, was politically for slavery, but not morally. He only did this because he felt it would improve people's opinions about him, making it easier for him to maneuver throughout the battlefield without the public questioning him. Although he did state he had slaves, he treated them as family members and respected them. He eventually released the Emancipation Proclamation Act, which released all slaves in all states. Unfortunately, he did not control every state and slaves in the uncontrolled states were still held by the South.

Where was the Emacipation Proclamation issued?

The Emancipation Proclamation was issued in Washington, DC, by President Lincoln, and freed those slaves held in territory then in rebellion against the government of the United States of America. As a result, it did not free anyone until Confederate lands were conquered after the Proclamation was signed. Those slaves held in lands already under the control of Union forces were not affected by the Proclamation.
