Yes.
The Union army found itself with slaves it had been told to liberate, but didn't know what to do with. At first these (ex-)slaves were just given menial work around the camps. Then the army started to recruit them into existing regiments, which suited a lot of low-ranking white soldiers, who would automatically move up in the system because of this. Eventually there were whole black units, some of them serving in the front line.
The Confederates would not consider the idea of putting slaves into uniform until quite late in the war. When General Pat Cleburne suggested it, his comments were literally scratched from the record. Only right at the end, when the Confederates were barefoot and starving, did they start recruiting slaves into the army, and by then it was too late to make any difference.

Yes
Yes they were promised to get there freedom, so the slaves fought for the south.
Actually, the South brought their black slaves with them to fight in the war. So it is false that they weren't allowed to fight.
Many blacks did fight in the south but not as much as blacks in the north. Blacks in the south that fought were either free land owners and were fighting to keep their land, or they were slaves of owners who were drafted in the war and they fought alongside their owners.
